Mortgage Interest Rate Market Guide

Mortgage Market Guide - 1/2/09

Rates — Posted by mikerogers @ 10:58

Rates have not done well late in day. Though they opened up nicely and were looking to offer up some tasty bits we could bite into, the bits turned sour on us.

I'm not fretting, I expect mortgage rates to start looking better as January starts to unravel. The Treasuries are experiencing a selloff due to a flight to stocks. Often the mortgages follow the Treasuries.

We're around 5.25 to 5.50% for a 30 year conventional fixed no points for a platinum borrower on a 30 day lock.

Starting after today I will use the conventional 30 year fixed platinum borrower 30 day lock as a standard benchmark.

Fear not my friends if you did not lock your rate, Monday is another day. What I always say in this business is... " if you don't like what today has to offer, wait until tomorrow, it will be completely different".
